Along with a new home in 2019, ATL UTD 2 will have a new coach in the technical area after Scott Donnelly was hired as a scout for Manchester United a few weeks ago. Stephen Glass, currently Atlanta United Academy’s U-17 coach, has been promoted to the head coach of Atlanta United’s USL Championship club ahead of its second season.
Glass has been a member of the Atlanta United organization since August, when he came over from the Carolina Rapids. Several U-17 players like Jackson Conway, Kendall Edwards and Natnael McDonald saw time with ATL UTD 2 last season, with Conway being signed to a professional contract in December. We should see several more Academy players in the roster throughout 2019, along with several prospects like Anderson Asiedu and Amir Bashti, both drafted a few weeks ago.
ATL UTD 2 opens preseason this Friday, with its season opener set for March 9 against Hartford Athletic up in Kennesaw.
