On the eve of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft, Atlanta United 2 have dipped into the college ranks to add to its forward corps by signing Virginia forward Daniel Steedman to a professional contract, it was announced by the university’s athletic department on Wednesday. Steedman was a sophomore, but will forgo his final 2 seasons of college eligibility to turn professional.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Steedman later moved to Charlotte with his family, eventually starring at Hough High School. He also played at the club level with the Charlotte Soccer Academy and Charlotte Independence.
While at Virginia, Steedman landed on the ACC All-Freshman team following the 2018 season while starting 6 games across 15 appearances and scoring 2 goals. This past season, he was 3rd on the team with 6 goals and 2nd in assists with 7 as the Cavaliers finished as national runners-up to Georgetown in the College Cup.
