Atlanta United 2 ended up splitting the points with The Miami FC by virtue of a 2-2 draw after Atlanta gave up a 2-0 lead in the first half. Jack Gurr and Macky Diop were on the scoresheet for Atlanta, but former Atlanta United striker Romario Williams gave Miami hope with a brace before he was forced off with a second half injury.
Here are the highlights:

I should also mention that Romario almost completed a hat trick despite his leg not working 2 minutes earlier (which I was actually very impressed with).

Takeaway
From a developmental perspective, starts for 16-year-old Efrain Morales and 15-year-old Caleb Wiley is exactly what this team is about. As far as on the field product for the 2s, it was a good game with good goals and a lot missed chances. The players looked absolutely gassed, which was refreshing to see.
Though Atlanta United 2’s main focus is on development, Atlanta needs to start picking up more points. One win and six points from 10 matches. Not ideal.
Looking Ahead
Atlanta will play the Tampa Bay Rowdies this Saturday (Aug. 22) at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
