With the USL-Championship regular season in the rearview mirror, Atlanta United 2 announced the first of their off-season roster moves.
Remaining with the club will be Ajani Fortune, Darwin Matheus, and Aiden McFadden who are still under contract for the 2022 season.
The club continues to negotiate with Robbie Mertz and Bradley Kamdem Fewo who are both USL veterans. Matías Benítez and Rocco Ríos Novo, who both came to the club on loans are also still in the midst of negotiations.
Connor Stanley’s loan ended at the conclusion of the 2021 season, and he will return to Manchester United’s U-23 team with his future at his parent club also in doubt.
Surprisingly, the club declined the contract option on Chris Allan who was instrumental in the 2s midfield before being lost for the season with a hip injury.
The club’s other free agents are Abdoulaye Diop, Phillip Goodrum, Alex Garuba, and Amadou Macky Diop. The club stated that these players will not return in 2022.
That closes the book on 2021 for the 2s. Let us know whether any of these moves surprised you and who you are excited to see return to the club.
