Atlanta United 2 have inked another Academy product to a professional contract as the club announced on Friday afternoon that it and midfielder Ajani Fortune have come to terms.
Born in Marietta, the 18-year-old Fortune entered Atlanta United’s academy in 2018 after moving from the Raleigh-Durham area and debuted with ATL UTD 2 on July 11, 2020. He has 14 appearances and 9 starts this season, finding the net against FC Tulsa on July 28.
A Trinidad and Tobago international, Fortune played 4 times with the Soca Warriors’ under-17 team in 2019 while winning his first cap with the senior side in a friendly against the U.S. men’s national team in January.
The 2s are in the midst of a strong season under first-year head coach Jack Collison, sitting on a 6-7-8 mark and well within the hunt for their first-ever playoff bid. They take on FC Tulsa on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
