In an interview with Paraguayan radio station Cardinal Deportivo, Tata Martino sounded pretty confident that Miguel Almiron is here to stay, at least for now. "Miguel's objective is to finish in Europe," Martino said. "He's the best or one of the three best in MLS. In the short term he'll leave, but he won't do it this transfer window." It sounds like Atlanta United supporters can rest easy. Martino specifically stating that Almiron will leave in the "short term" is important though. The odds that Atlanta's front office allows him to leave in next summer's transfer window is also unlikely considering United will be in the middle of their second season. Signing away arguably the best player in MLS midway through a campaign is silly, regardless of what the transfer fee may be. However, it's becoming more and more likely that Almiron will stay for the 2018 season before heading to Europe.
We can enjoy that smile in Five Stripes for a little while longer.
