Atlanta United is close to acquiring D.C. United’s Bobby Boswell according to the Washington Post. It’s unknown what the exact return is yet. The assumption is draft picks, which aren’t really worth a whole lot.

The first reason for this possible move that comes to my head is that Tata Martino and the staff were looking for someone that could make a spot start or two in the long stretch of games coming up in September. As of now, they probably don’t trust Miles Robinson with that spot just yet.
Boswell makes a ton of sense for this backup CB spot because of his MLS experience (360 starts and 365 total appearances since 2005 with 18 goals) and he’ll likely come cheap as D.C. is looking to dump his salary in order to sign someone else (presumably).
Bobby Boswell is making 260,000 this year and is in the final year of his contract.

His contract seems affordable and it’s only till the end of the season. I kinda doubt they’ll re-sign him after this year because they still have Miles Robinson developing and he’ll be 35 near the beginning of next season.
