Tata Martino is a world-renowned manager who has coached some of the best players the world has ever seen. So, it’s no surprise to see his name linked high-profile managerial positions that open up. Such was the case with Chile, Paraguay, and even the United States national team jobs.
However, the 54-year-old has consistently said that he’s committed to Atlanta United as a long term project. He reiterated that sentiment after the club’s 2-2 draw with Toronto FC in the regular season finale. He even revealed just how long we can expect him to have his future tied to Atlanta.
"I have a contract with Atlanta United that goes through next year, and prob-, possibly through two years after that with a mutual option,” Tata Martino told the Spanish media.”
"I’m not only committed to Atlanta United but also committed to the players who I convinced this was a going to be good and interesting project." (credit to Eric Quintana for translating)
Despite the inevitable interest from national teams and possibly clubs that will come, it sounds promising for Atlanta United and MLS that Martino is focused on the Five Stripes for the long term.
Rumors and speculation will certainly continue, but just have to ignore it and hope that Tata continues to love it here in Atlanta and stays for a very long time.
