It turns out that scoring a lot of goals in a match is very beneficial to a club. After scoring a hat-trick against Minnesota United, Atlanta United striker Josef Martinez has been named MLS Player of the Week, becoming the first player in club history to win the award.

This adds to the list of honors the club has been given after the 6-1 demolishing of Minnesota. Those include Martinez, Miguel Almiron, Greg Garza, and Tata Martino being named to the MLS Team of the Week. Almiron has also been nominated for the league’s Goal of the Week award.
What was a historic win just keeps on giving and giving. Let’s do that more, yeah?
