It was a bitter night for Atlanta United last night as they fell to D.C. United for the third time this season. However, we have a little treat to pick up your spirit. Chris Goslin scored a goal for the United States under-17 national team on Wednesday in a 3-1 win over Russia at the International Youth Tournament of Vaclav Jezek.
It was no ordinary goal, though. Atlanta’s second-ever Homegrown Player done went and pulled off a ridiculous scissor kick goal from outside of the box. The highlight of the goal above is something to behold and something to add coal to the Goslin hype train. The midfielder has yet to appear in a match for the Five Stripes, but his talent is clear to see with efforts like this.
The U-17’s are preparing for the World Cup later this year. Both Goslin and Andrew Carleton have missed the majority of this MLS season while off on international duty. This U-17 squad appears to have massive potential and could make a long run in the tournament. Hopefully next season is when we see the Homegrowns get their chance.
