Atlanta United revealed its new King Peach kits during the club’s open training on Thursday, but they made another announcement as well. Kevin Egan, who was behind the microphone for five of Atlanta’s matches on FOX Sports South/Southeast last year before giving way to Alan Green, was named the play-by-play commentator for all 18 of Atlanta’s regional telecasts this season. He will be joined once again by analyst Dan Gargan in the booth.
Egan wasn’t around for that long during the club’s inaugural season, but he became a fan favorite in spite of that. One of his most well-known calls came during Atlanta’s match against the Houston Dynamo, where Miguel Almiron scored his first hat trick in MLS.
Outside of the club, Egan is known nationwide for his work with beIN Sports, where he hosts The Xtra nightly and serves as an analyst and commentator for several world leagues. He also wrote a great retrospective of his time with the team in 2017, which you can read here.
Congratulations, Kevin!
