Predicting Atlanta United’s lineup against the Chicago Fire

A couple of tweaks from Wednesday.

MLS: Minnesota United FC at Atlanta United FC Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

After a torturous last few weeks, Atlanta United finally gets a much-needed break - but first, it will have to take on the Chicago Fire. We’ve seen this scenario play out several times for Atlanta: come into the final match before an extended period of time off on a high note, only to suffer a frustrating loss and have to sit with the result for several weeks. Going into the break with 3 points will do wonders for this team’s confidence and - depending on how other results break - may see them at or near the top of the East table with several matches in hand.

With all that said, here’s my predicted lineup for tonight’s match against the Fire:

However, I think that Frank de Boer utilizes his substitutions earlier and more frequently throughout this match. I see Jeff Larentowicz, Brek Shea and potentially Justin Meram get around 20-30 minutes each, but the exact state of the match when that 60-70 minute mark rolls around should play into that a bit.

What are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments.
