Atlanta United and Inter Miami CF joined other teams in the sporting world by postponing their match scheduled for this evening in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, a response due to the shooting of Jacob Blake by a police officer in Wisconsin on Sunday.
The postponements were touched off in the NBA, as the Bucks and Magic opted not to play tonight’s scheduled playoff game in Orlando in a show of solidarity. Games between the Rockets and Thunder, as well as the Lakers and the Trail Blazers, were later cancelled by the NBA as a result. In Major League Baseball, the Reds and Brewers opted not to play, while the WNBA cancelled all games scheduled for tonight.
The match tonight between Nashville SC and Orlando City did go on as scheduled at 7:30pm. Other matches around the league appear to be on the way to being postponed as of this writing.
